Teen Mentoring Evening Recap

On Tuesday May 31 the Twenty Ten Club and St Matthew Academy in Lewisham hosted a speed-mentoring evening connecting just over seventy girls with a panel of 18 Black female entrepreneurs.

Special guests in attendance included Jennette Arnold OBE, Chair of the Greater London Assembly; Foluke Akinlose of Precious; Vanessa Sanyauke of The Rafiki Network; Jessica Huie of JH Public Relations and Colorblind Cards, Jessica Elliott of J’s Dance Factory and Leila Thomas of Urban Synergy.

Highlights included a warm welcome address from Barbara Lindsay MBE, Senior Policy Advisor for the Government’s Equalities Office.

The Twenty Ten Club also formally announced our new school programme – Interview an Entrepreneur on-stage at the event. The programme invites schools to nominate pupils of all ages to interview Black female entrepreneurs they admire.

I had the pleasure of presenting certificates of achievement to St Matthew Academy’s Year 6 press gang team – Kia-Miami, India-Rose, Jennifer, Kyra-Jade, Candice and Zoe – who are currently taking part in our Interview an Entrepreneur programme.

It was a memorable evening but none of it would have been possible without the support of our fantastic mentor panel of Twenty Ten Club members who did an amazing job sharing insights on their career paths and answering lots and lots of questions!  Special thanks to:
