I-dentity is a youth focussed organisation providing Caribbean Studies programmes based in London.

Founded by Charlene Wilkinson in 2009, I-dentity aims to inspire, challenge and promote positive cultural awareness and understanding for students both in and outside mainstream education.

Accredited by the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA), I-dentity delivers modules in cultural studies and presents a platform that pushes forward the notion of Caribbean antiquity, underpinned by current perspectives.

The company currently employs a team of five and is poised to launch a series of networking events that will be hosted later this year.

Business Link in London hosts the final We Mean Business Conference on Wednesday July 6 at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington.

Twenty Ten Club founder Octavia Goredema will be speaking at the Q&A session at the event.

The We Mean Business Conference is Business Link in London’s flagship women’s event. There have been seven successful events in the series since its launch in 2008 in line with International Women’s day.

Meet Barbara Campbell

Barb Wire Enterprises is a south west London based publishing house. The company currently produces Live Listings magazine; The Official Guide to International Women’s Month magazine and Black Heritage Today.

Founded by Barbara Campbell, the company launched in 2000 after the single mother of two cashed in cashed in her life insurance policy to use as seed money. The company is now poised to go global with a team of up to 15 employees.

Barbara also helms the youth-focused social enterprise Assist2, providing the Media Education 2 Enterprise Challenge, a publishing seminar programme for teenagers.

Meet Karen Campbell

Co-founded by managing director Karen Campbell, Shiloh PR specialises broadcast, online media and urban music publicity. The London based firm also provides clients with a range of complimentary services including photography, filming and social media.

With a combined 30 years experience working in the media, PR and music industries, the team at Shiloh PR is currently handling the publicity for the One Love Peace Festival, taking place at London’s Wembley Arena on July 31.

The company’s origins began in 2005 as Pulse PR UK before relaunching as Shiloh PR in 2009.

Meet Vanessa Sanyauke

The Rafiki Network is a London-based leadership and mentoring social enterprise that works with young people aged 11-18 years of age.

Founded by award-winning serial entrepreneur Vanessa Sanyauke in 2008, The Rafiki Network provides a range of services from individual mentors who work with young students on a one-to-one basis to facilitating workshops and assemblies for schools and youth organisations. The company employs a team of three and mentors 25-30 young people per cycle.

In addition to running The Rafiki Network Vanessa heads the event management company Exquisite Celebrations and is the editor of her own lifestyle blog.

In 2010 Vanessa was recognised at the Spirit of London awards as a Community Champion for her sterling work at The Rafiki Network. Vanessa was also listed as one of the 100 social entrepreneurs to watch at the Future 100 awards last year.
