Introducing the Twenty Ten Club

Welcome to the Twenty Ten Club! Thank you for checking out my blog.

My name’s Octavia Goredema and I founded the Twenty Ten Club in March of this year.

My aim is to provide a group that connects, inspires and supports black female business owners from a variety of industries.

The idea for the club materialised while I was busy working on my first start up and caring for my new baby. Even though I had my hands full, working round the clock on my business plans, I was incredibly lonely.  I craved the opportunity to get together with others, discuss ideas and share resources.

So, I decided I would create a club that did just that.

On March 20 2010, I gathered together a group of women I’d met over the course of the past year at other business events.  Like me, they were also hard at work on their respective ventures.

We met at the bar of the Soho Hotel in London and we didn’t stop talking.  It felt great to share our experiences.  From that amazing afternoon the Twenty Ten Club was born.

I came up with the name as this year, 2010, is pivotal for my business.  I feel so lucky to have such an amazing group of women to share the journey with me.

The Twenty Ten Club meets once a month at different locations across London.  The meetings are informal and we use the time to share updates and resources, talk through obstacles and toast our triumphs.

We are constantly learning from one another and it feels lovely to know you have a group of people to talk to, as and when you need to.

The plan for this blog is to share information and resources.  In addition to posting articles, events and workshops our group finds useful it will also feature interviews with black female entrepreneurs, who will share their journeys.

I hope you will check back from time to time to see how the blog progresses.  In the interim, if you have any suggestions or questions please do leave a comment, or feel free to contact me directly at info@twentytenclub.com

All the best,

Octavia
